Abstract Acquired immune Deficiency Syndrome (Aids) is a disease which has defined all orthodox treatment since its discovery in 1981. Today it has become a teenage disease and many youths are vulnerable to it due to ignorance and lack of enlightenment about the devastating nature of the disease. They still believe in certain fallacies and misconception that it is a disease of the whiteman. To correct this misconception HIV/AIDS education should be integrated into the business education curriculum, to enlighten students and the sexually active adult on the HIV infection risks, the importance of safer sexual behavior and the essence of good nutrition in the management of people who have HIV/AIDS infection.

Abstract The uncontrollable growth rate of secret cults on campuses, however, have rubbished the legacy of brotherhood which the founders of private confraternity left behind way back in 1953. Today most of our students are not reading, the tertiary institutions are now producing graduates who are not employable as they lack knowledge, skill and good character befitting the ivory tower. (Nweke 2005). To ameliorate this situation, cultism education should be integrated into the business education curriculum to enlighten students on the devastating effects of cultism on themselves, educational system, parents and the society at large. For the students to achieve success in life and be able to pay back to society what has been given to them, they must submit themselves to learning and eschew all vices which may lead to their premature deaths. There is need for students to cultivate indomitable spirit to succeed, as there is no short cut to learning. This will enable them to achieve the lofty goals of business education.

Abstract This paper critically examines Business Education in Information Technology Era. In the information world differences between success and failure, being powerful or powerless hinges more than ever before an understanding the vale of information, how to get it, organize it and store it efficiently without being overwhelmed by it. However, it is pertinent to note that the recent technological innovations have considerably altered the nature, content and environment of Business Education. These innovations are mainly in the area of telecommunication, computer and information technology. Information technology has greatly improved communication process and business activities. The internet facility has provided the executive a new lease of life in business operations because he can now access local and shared files, data base and electronic mail (E-mail) from anywhere and the internet thereby turning the world into a global village.

Abstract This paper examines critically the career opportunities in business education with special attention to secretarial education in Nigeria. The writer argues that since business education is the type of education that provides the learner with skills, abilities and knowledge, it should rely on adequate instructional materials in their teachings. The paper suggested that if business education programme is to train efficient secretaries for tomorrow, it should do so with adequate and properly maintained equipment or else the programme should not be offered. For the office machines used in training secretaries must realistically reflect the new development that are taking place in today’s office. It also recommended that government should introduce the use of vocational guidance in schools. This will equip the students with occupational and career information which will be matched with individual interests and abilities in developing special skills.

Abstract The education sector is the centre of development of a nation apart from oil, gas or solid minerals. It is the investment through education of people that will convert them to human capital. Reform according to the Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary means to improve a system by making changes to it the essence of reforms is to ensure that effective regulatory work of the education sector in the provision of education will not by any act of omission or commission reduce the quality of education. That way, quality assurance and maintenance of standards will be guaranteed. The paper therefore examined the national examination reforms, issues, challenges and strategies required to carry out the reform agenda for the benefit of the populace. And conclusions were made.

Abstract Advances in technology have affected every aspect of modern office environment around the world. The effects are generally felt in education, science, commerce, politics, business and particularly the electronic world. As a result skill requirement for many occupations are changing. These new technologies have facilitated new business procedures from the traditional office of yester years to the electronic office. At the centre of the new trends are office information systems. Office information systems (OIS) refer to the integration of all the separate office information processing technologies which include word processing, data processing, micrographics, reprographic and telecommunications (Doswell 1990). These new technologies have affected every aspect of office work and have enthroned many businesses and job opportunities. These automated systems will result in complete job re-designation for the secretary. It has therefore become imperative for secretaries to acquire new skills in the latest technologies to enable them remain relevant and be able to compete favourably in the employment market.

Abstract This paper titled Entrepreneurship Education. A Sine Qua-non in business education programme in Nigeria believed that entrepreneurship training is a powerful instrument that will reduce the unemployment problem in the country. The paper examined the concept of entrepreneurship, the necessity for entrepreneurship education in business education programme, entrepreneurship characteristics, the major objectives of entrepreneurship education as well as challenges faced by the entrepreneur. The paper concluded that incorporating entrepreneurship education in business education programme would act as a catalyst for reducing the unemployment problem in the country as recipients would acquire saleable skills, knowledge and attitudes that will make them become self reliant and employers of labour instead of job seekers.

Abstract It is a will established fact that the world has become a global village as a result of advances in technology. In view of this, it is necessary for secretaries to be up-to-date in their professional practices in this era of globalization of service market in order to remain relevant in the global service market. Secretarial profession in the globalised market has become technology driven and highly competitive. The paper discussed the concept of information technology, globalization and the characteristics of the global market, skills required of secretaries in the global market were enlighted. It was concluded that secretaries need new office technology skills for them to remain competitive and relevant in a globalized market. Recommendations were also made.

To ameliorate this situation, cultism education is a necessity in the curriculum of all tertiary institutions in Nigeria to enlighten students on the devastating effect of cultism on themselves, educational system, parents and the larger society. For students to achieve success in life and be able to pay back to the society what may truncate their academic programme and may even lead to untimely death. Reasons that predisposes students to joining cults were listed, strategies for curbing the menance highlighted. It was recommended that there should be restitution of our value system; religious organizations in campuses should be encouraged, recreational facilities provided on various campuses for students relaxation after the days activities; the government to beef up security in all tertiary institutions in the country and conclusion drawn.
