Abstract The focus of this paper to come Home Economics as a subject matter and how it impacts on the family, workplace and entrepreneurship towards economic sustainability of the family. Discussion shows that with plus on practical work and entrepreneurship education input, home economies will produce employable persons, confident, competent, self-employed and reliant individuals Emphasis is bad on the importance of practical's in developing the manipulative skills that will give one confidence and ability for effective enterprise management Selfemployment and good money management coupled with good maintenance culture will culminate in family economics sustainability. Abstract This paper reviews the gender aspect of Home Economics Education Reason why there is gender gap in the teaching and learning of Home Economic education and the strategies on how to close the gap Also the usefulness of Home Economics Education to all sexes was discussed Finally some recommendations were made as what to be do to close the gap, as trying to make a change on course since it will motivate students more to study the course Also efforts should be made to educate parents on trying to identify the potentials in their children before choosing a course of study for them these are implemented it will surely increase the students enrolment in the study of Home Economics especially males.

Abstract This study was carried out to examine the attitude of home economics teachers towards improvisation in the teaching of Home Economics Education in Secondary Schools in Ika metropolis of Delta state, Nigeria. The data were generated in the use of A22 item question on 70 teachers. The data were analyzed using simple percent, ANOVA and the Scheffe Multiple Comparism for group means. Finding of the study indicated that teachers qualification have significant influence in their attitude towards improvisation in the teaching of home economics, this was also seen in the Scheffe’s Multiple Comparism of group means. The study recommends that since qualifications has significant effect on teaching Home Economics, government should help train the teachers to help reduce such challenges.
